Saturday Afternoon at the Street Fair

DeeDude and I wandered down to the Laurel Village Street Fair this afternoon. He spent some time at the Laurel Book Store Booth talking to customers and signing his two books, Oakland's Laurel District and Moutain View Cemetary. I visited all the vendors.

I stopped by a booth for International Sanctuary that had pretty jewelry on display. I bought these earrings. The card the earrings came on were signed by the person who made them. She is a rescued sex trade worker.

Information on the back of the card that held my earrings: "This item was hand-crafted in India by a survivor of sexual exploitation. No longer a victim enslaved in the flesh trade, she is now able to go to school, receive vocational training and live in freedom. Your purchase of this product is helping her to build a brighter future. International Sanctuary is a non-profit organization that empowers survivors of human trafficking with social-enterprising opportunities."

I also bought two cat pencils. Figured they might prove inspirational to either us or the cats or, perhaps to both.

I picked up a jar of shea nut butter. They were giving out samples and it felt wonderful on my hands. This is called Ah Shayh and is also available online.
And, although I didn't purchase anything from the Senses and Scents booth I did have a sniff of some very nice candles. Promised them a link online, so here it is. They are local in Oakland, though they are only selling online at at fairs.

Fiddling

Well, this is a bit of an experiment. I've created a new Amazon store. I'm looking to see if anybody has a crystal skull up for sale too. I've got a little one on my desk, but hey, the cat could take a liking to it and I'd never see it again. The one I want should be larger. And, as with any tool of diviniation I'd want to imprint it with my own vibrations. Except, one of the guides just said a Magic 8 ball would do just as well for me. Probably cheaper too. And, I've already got a bunch of them.

Saturday Stuff

So, it’s raining today; our first solid rain this season. Actually, it’s an unseasonable rain, but we can probably use it. I know the fire fighters are really happy about it because this is California’s dangerous fire season. But, I don’t mind the rain. I’m going out in a little bit to do some shopping in the neighborhood. A quick trip across the street for some stuff at the hardware store and then down a couple of doors to the House of Produce for the rest of what I want to put into a beef vegetable soup I’ll make for dinner; just right for a rainy day.

I’ve been working since early this morning on computer things, so I’m due for a change of pace. So far? I’ve updated DeeDude’s site www.evanosky.info with a copy of a really nice article about his new book. I knocked out two PayPerPost opportunities to the tune of about $20. Got dressed and had breakfast. It might not sound like much, but the PayPerPost stuff also requires that an entry of non-advertorial stuff go in-between them, so there was regular writing too.

While I was eating breakfast I made a list of all the stuff I’d like to do today. There are 18 things on that list. You think I’m not going to be busy? I’ll post later on to update anybody who’s interested in whether I got to everything or not.

Saturday

These are the flowers my husband brought home for me today. He is so sweet. It was a just-because bouquet.

Today went well as far as me getting things done. I got my hair all hennaed, which is something I've been wanting to do for almost a month. It looks pretty good. Much better than any other hair coloring product I've ever used.

And, I repotted some Bachelor Button flowers into 4 small pots I've got out on the patio. I'd started the seeds in an egg flat a couple of weeks ago. I hope they do okay. I'm not generally known for my green thumb.

And, I did a ton of ironing this morning. There was a pile of clothes that I'd been meaning to get at for 3 weeks. So, that's done too. Now, for the rest of the weekend I can do "fun" stuff.

Something I would really like to get at is the index of my book. Also, I'd like to get another 2 articles written for my June newsletter. I'm sure I'll come up with more things as the days go by.
